First things first: No, I was not robbed at gunpoint. But two of my students were, on Sunday night. They are okay. I am probably more shaken up about it than they are at this point. I won’t go into all the details because it’s a long story and I only have a few minutes till Little Bit needs to eat, but… people, please be careful at ATMs. There are some nutjobs out there. Seriously.
In other news…
The Clearing is doing great so far! And you know what? It’s all because of YOU. And people on Facebook, and people on Twitter. Oh, and I guess my real life friends and family are pretty cool, too. THANK YOU to everyone who has bought the book! I love, love, LOVE to see that I’ve sold another copy. It makes my heart leap around in excitement. Kind of like the first time I ever saw Top Gun. I click on “Sales Report,” see that some awesome person has ordered my book, and “Danger Zone” starts playing in my head.
Just call me Maverick.
Also, today I had my interview with Daytime Alabama! It was really fun and much less terrifying than I thought it would be. There was Wendy, who interviewed me; one assistant; and one camera guy. That’s it. We did the interview outside on a bench and only had to start over twice (once because Wendy said I taught science instead of Spanish, and another time because I said “I published the book in February, so just last month” but then remembered the interview will air in April, so I would have looked like I wasn’t aware that the month of March existed).
My students were blissfully calm during the whole process and did not pop up behind me or throw things into the camera shot, so that was good. My room was even in one piece when I got back to class. Go figure. They’re kinda cool.
The interview is set to air on April 6, but that’s subject to change, so I’ll let you know for sure when it gets closer to time.
Have a great afternoon!
