Hi there! I’m so glad you found me! Thanks for clicking on my “About” page. I worked super hard to make it. Ten whole minutes of thinking and typing! Can you imagine?
I’m an aspiring author of young adult fiction disguised as a high school Spanish teacher. I live in Birmingham, Alabama with my very attractive husband (some say he resembles Matt Damon, and one time somebody else said he looks like Tom Brady, so basically he’s HAWT) and my small, giggly daughter.
After graduating from the University of Alabama with a double major in advertising and Spanish, I wrote several complete manuscripts, none of which will ever see the light of day. In fact, I like to pretend they never existed in the first place, although this isn’t really fair as those manuscripts helped me find my voice as an author.
In January 2009 I signed with literary agent Alanna Ramirez of Trident Media Group. We went on submission with my first novel, The Clearing, but it didn’t sell. As we had exhausted our possibilities for traditional publication, I self-published the book because I could not face the idea of letting it sit unread, gathering dust.
The Clearing had a limited run for one year. It is no longer available for purchase, but if you want, I can do a dramatic reenactment for you. I’ll need a ring of mushrooms, some colonial costumes, and a willing sacrificial victim. Oh! And a boarding school in Maine.
In the event that you are unable to procure these items, I must apologetically refrain from performing the reenactment. I take my art very seriously.
Anyway, Alanna left Trident unexpectedly in September 2011. Although we tried to find a new home for me within the agency, the “click” just didn’t happen, so I’m currently researching new options for representation. Usually while eating Nutella straight out of the jar and singing Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never” under my breath.
What do you mean, you knew all writers were crazy?
