A Quiet July

I’ve mentioned before that the month of June is a doozy for Clan Riley. Our wedding anniversary, Father’s Day, my birthday, and Rob’s birthday ALL OCCUR between the 7th and 24th of June, and MY WORD, it is quite a lot of fun.

So much fun that once the comparative quiet of July rolls around, we don’t know what to do with ourselves. We are like cats in a room where someone has moved a chair, and even though it wasn’t a chair we ever sat in or really liked all that much, we don’t understand why it’s now in the corner and not by the bookcase, like it was yesterday. And so, in our catlike states, we retreat into ourselves just a little and, well, we sort of…hide.

That’s my tail sticking out from underneath that paper. I TOTALLY thought nobody could see me!

Anyway.

We’ve found a few things to busy ourselves with: the house, the kids, the test Rob is studying for (a product of his new job). But all in all, it’s been fairly quiet around these parts, and I have to say I’m enjoying it.

Well. “Quiet” may be a relative term.

This month, we started watching Downton Abbey! DOWNTOWN ABBEY! And even though we are YEARS behind the rest of you, we are OBSESSED (to put it lightly) and have just finished Season 2.

And then we started twitching and Rob asked me what we were supposed to do now, and how we planned to get our hands on Season 3.

Curraghmore House meets Downton Abbey (6314536459)
This has nothing to do with Downton, but when I searched for photos of it on Wikimedia, this popped up. It’s a REAL photo from 1905 of Curraghmore House in Waterford. FASCINATING.
The withdrawal symptoms have tempered a bit, but we’re still anxious to see how Season 3 goes, even though I seem to remember people being super upset over the season finale.

DON’T TELL ME.

(Also, and this probably goes without saying, but SOMEONE NEEDS TO SEPARATE THOMAS AND O’BRIEN. Those two and their cigarette-laden conspiracies wear me the HECK out.)

What about you? How is July shaping up in your house?

I laughed out loud when i saw the hiding kitty photos. How cute! I am such a homebody that i think I’ve become a self-made hermit. Lol so the Cone household has not been very busy . Lol

    Hi Anne!

OMG, DOWNTON ABBEY! I’m obsessed with it as well and if your still looking for a way to watch season 3, if you have a Netflix or Amazon Prime account, you can watch the whole season through one of those! I’m desperate for season 4 to get here, this show is just another one of the many reasons why I wish I lived in the UK, so that I could watch DA months early like they can, boo! January (which is when season 4 premieres in the US) seems soooo far away! Guess I’ll just have to tide myself over by watching seasons 1-3 over again, lol! 🙂
