Okay, so the title of this post *might* be partially fabricated. And by partially fabricated I mean it’s a lie. But not all of it! I really am having an author event in the month of April here in Birmingham, Alabama. And if you live in Birmingham, Alabama, I would really really really love to see you there.
Because honestly? It could end up being me, my husband, and my parents. Which is cool and all… except that I see them all the time. I want to see YOU.
So if you’re in the area, here is the official info blurb. I’ve bolded a particularly crucial detail.
The first step to publication is getting a literary agent, but that can be a huge challenge. Research, query, write a synopsis… where do you start? Come hear local author and teacher Anne Riley discuss the process of researching literary agents, writing a query letter, constructing a book synopsis, and making yourself stand out in the crowd. Snacks will be served. Please call (205)439-5512 or email nsyouth@shelbycounty-al.org for more information.
This wild and crazy shindig is going down Monday, April 11, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at North Shelby Library. It’s not a book signing, but if you bring me a copy of The Clearing to sign, well, let’s just say I’ll have a Sharpie at the ready.
Please come.
PLEASE.

I am going to try my hardest to come. I usually get off work at 5 so it’s just a matter of getting off in time and getting there.
I’m bringing my book…or 2 🙂
Can’t wait to (hopefully) see you!
Yaaaaay! Can’t wait to see you either!
I’ll be there!
I would cry if you weren’t.
if im not busy that day then ill show up, i just read the nook
sample of the book and its really good. planning on getting the
full thing soon.
Thanks Adam! Hope I get to see you there. It would be great to talk to you and see how you’re doing.
I am so there.
Huzzah!
Wish it didn’t take a plane to get there. Best of luck or break a leg or whatever writer folks use.
LOL maybe we should say “Bust your pen”?
Dang!! Just my luck that I will happen to be on my first vacation since childbirth while you’re here 🙁
Oh no!! 🙁
haha If I lived in Alabama I would for sure come, but I’m too far. And Same goes for me, I’m having a writer’s retreat in Alberta, Canada and I’m not sure how many people will show up… It is hard hosting an event for the first time.
It so, so is. It’s all scary and weird and I feel sort of iffy about the whole thing.
This sounds awesome! Wish I lived close! I’ll be there in spirit to support you, though.
Thanks Katrina!
If I was close I’d come and belly dance and then there really would be belly dancers there!
Man, that would be totally awesome!
But Anne…didn’t I win a signed copy already? I need it so I can read it again!
YES. And I still have your Tupperware. If I don’t see you before then, I will bring both to the library.
