Oh Liam, We’re Friends At Last

As of last night, I’ve re-edited my book through Chapter 10. I’ve even added a few new chapters due to the dual storyline I’ve decided to work in. And I am really, really liking what’s happening with it.

The main comment I got from the editors – you may remember – was that they didn’t feel a deep enough connection with the characters. They felt that Natalie changed her mind about Liam too soon. That they couldn’t get below the surface with her.

Well, I feel like I am finally developing my characters in the way they should have been developed all along, only I wasn’t experienced enough at that point to be able to see it. This is especially true of Liam, who is my male protagonist. I feel like I can finally see inside his mind… like we’ve just stayed up all night having those deep conversations that tend to take place in the wee hours, and now I feel like I’ve known him all my life.

Of course, there are many more chapters to get through, and I’ve got to get Natalie to that point, too. I feel like she’s close… she’s just not quite there yet.

I’m going to keep on trucking, and to all my NaNoWriMo folks out there – you do the same!
